About Robert Eichar

I'm Robert Eichar, a Coast Guard veteran, a husband, a dad, and someone who's been doing his own work since 2012.

I didn't come to this field because I had it figured out. I came because I didn't, and I didn't have anyone competent and authentic in my corner when I needed it most. That matters to me. I want to be for my clients what I wish I'd had.

I work with veterans, and with people going through the kind of stuff life doesn't warn you about — anger that keeps showing up in the wrong places, patterns that started long before you understood them, the weight of things you've never said out loud. I like complex cases. I'm not going to flinch at what you bring in.

My approach depends on what you actually need. For crisis, immediate problems, and getting through the moment — I lean on CBT and DBT. For the longer work, the "where did all this come from" work — I lean psychoanalytic. Every story has a beginning, and it's naive to think the beginning isn't still shaping the middle and the end.

I'll help you be accountable, we’ll discover the whys behind your thoughts and behaviors and work on moving them in a direction that works for you.
